III. ICT Today
Information and
Communications Technology has innovated itself through time. Some
of the proofs are the evolutions of the World Wide Web from Web 1.0 to
Web 2.0 and the updated applications that have much faster loading time
and more uses than previous versions. ICT is the fusion of hardware
equipment, precise software, GUI, and effective communications.
Through ICT, users are able to share and gather
information from other people through the use of various tools that we
use in our day-to-day living such as televisions, radio, cellphone,
computers, laptops, and many more. ICT is an element of communication in
our lives and it plays an important role in delivering messages to
other people from certain users.
IV. World Wide Web
The World Wide Web was central to the development of the Information Age and is the primary tool billions of people use to interact on the Internet and also The world wide web is an information text where documents and other we resources are identified by URLs, interlinked by hypertext links, and can be accessed via the internet.
The World Wide Web has three versions and these are (1) Web 1.0 (2) Web 2.0 and (3) Web 3.0.
- Web 1.0
This refers to the first stage in the World
Wide Web. It is generally believed to refer to the Web when it was a set
of static websites that were not yet providing interactive content.
This is also known as a Read-only Web because this type of web is
designed only to allow researchers and people to only read documents and
not be able to copy, edit or leave a comment.
- Web 2.0
This refers to the current state of online
technology as it compares to the early days of the Web. It is
characterized by greater user interactivity and collaboration, more
pervasive network connectivity and enhanced communication channels. The
term Web 2.0 was coined by Darcy DiNucci but was popularized by Tim
O'Reilly.
The Web 2.0 is also known as the
Read-and-Write Web because it allows users to read documents on the
Internet and at the same time edit or leave a comment on the output. It
is also much faster than Web 1.0.
- Web 3.0
This is defined as the creation of high-quality
content and services produced by gifted individuals using Web 2.0
technology as an enabling platform. This is also know and the Semantic
Executing Web which will have the same functions of Web 2.0 but much
faster and much useful for users on the Internet.
V. SOCIAL MEDIA
Social Media are computer-mediated tools that allow people, companies and other organizations to create, share, or exchange information, career interests, ideas, and pictures/videos in virtual communities and networks and also The social media is a Web 2.0 Internet-based applications. The different types of social media are forums, microblogging, social networking, social bookmarking, social curation, and wiki's. Some of the most popular social media sites are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Skype, Yahoo and many more.

These
are computer programs that search documents for specified keywords and
returns a list of the documents where the keywords are found. It enables
users to locate information on the World Wide Web and it maintains
short summaries of the billions of pages on the Web.
The
search results are generally presented in a line of results often
referred to as search engine results pages (SERPs). Some of the examples
of Web Search Engines are Google, Yahoo and Bing.
- Research Indexing Sites
These are websites that are often called as an online
library. It is used to collect information broadly about scholarly
literature. It is a website designed to allow users to search across
many disciplines and sources like articles, thesis, books, abstracts and
court opinions. An example of research indexing site is Google Scholar.
- Massive Online Open Course (MOOC)
These are websites that are often called as online school. It is
dedicated to inform and teach users focused on different areas by using
the World Wide Web as a tool to establish communication between the
teacher and the student.
MOOC's are a recent and widely research development in distance
education. The term MOOC was coined by Dave Cormier in 2008 and emerged
as a popular mode of learning in 2012. An example of a Massive Online
Open Course (MOOC) is Coursera.
- Employment Web Sites These are websites dedicated to offer and search job
opportunities for the user. It deals specifically with employment and
career. It enables companies to post job vacancies and job requirements
to be filled up by the aspiring workers. An example of an Employment Web

- Electronic Commerce (E-commerce)
This is the facilitation of trading in products or services using
computer networks such as the Internet or online social networks. It is
